April 12, 2000 Mr. Dave Winer Userland Software Subject: Important Information Regarding Service Dear Mr. Winer, Now that your Pacific Bell T1 circuit has stabilized, Conxion intends to make a change. I must inform you of our decision to cease providing internet connectivity services ("Services") to you and Userland. Consequently, you will need to find an alternate ISP. We would like these Services transitioned to the new provider by the end of the month through which you have paid. Our records show that you have currently paid for Services through April 30, 2000. You have also been billed for the month of May 2000 (invoice No. 2356 dated April 3, 2000). If you pay the May invoice promptly (by April 21, 2000), we will provide Services through May 31, 2000. The Pacific Bell T1 local loop circuit will need to be re-directed to the new ISP. For your Service, Conxion chose a "frame cloud" method that will make it easy for you to choose from many other service providers in the area. Redirecting the T1 local loop circuit thus can be accomplished with a simple software change that can be coordinated between Conxion and your new ISP. Additionally, because Pacific Bell currently bills Conxion for the T1 local loop circuit and we pass those charges through to you with our monthly fees, Pacific Bell's billing will need to be redirected either: (i) To the ISP you select to provide the Services (if they agree to provide pass-through billing services); or (ii) To Userland. We will provide a form for you to complete, sign and return to us to effect the billing transfer. If you choose to redirect billing to your ISP, they will need to sign also. Additionally, upon transition Userland will need to coordinate with its new ISP to update the domain registrations with Network Solutions for the following 10 domains, to change the name server identifications: xml-rpc.com, xmlrpc.com, outliners.com, mailtothefuture.com, web-logs.com, web-log.com, weblogs.com, greatvavavoom.com, userland.com, salonherringwiredfool.com. Please contact Steve Martin with any questions. Steve can be reached at 408-566-8565, or steve@conxion.net. We wish you and Userland much success in all future endeavors. Sincerely, /s/ James C.
