Right, its the blue-print notation used in describing designs and implementations of (generally large scale enterprise) OO systems.

Once there were several different methodologists, each of whom published an object modeling notation. Booch was among the first and most popular. Rumbaugh published OMT, Jacobsen released Objectory, and a handful of others also came out. Booch founded Rational Software to promote his tool Rose (Rational Object Software Engineering), then hired Rumbaugh and bought out Objectory. The big three leaders merged their notations together to create UML.
