Before you do WDDX..

..take a look at XML-RPC.XML-RPC predates WDDX. It has a simpler, better specified object serialization format. And it says how events are passed over HTTP. Overall, a more useful thing that WDDX, and it's pragmatic, we deployed XML-RPC in Frontier 5 at the same time as the spec was released.
