The problem with Sun's pitch, as it always has been, is that they require us to convert to Java to play their game. When you read the license agreement you realize quickly that they are really insisting that you slit your throat before working with them. Nothing has changed, that's still what they're struggling with.

If "open" is white and "proprietary" is black, Java is some shade of gray. How dark the shade is left to the observer. AFAIK, Jini is based on basic VM building blocks which should be present in the open Japhar and Kaffe VMs. Have I missed something, has Sun tightened things down with the Jini license to prevent open implementations?
