To me it looks like a competitor to both Allaire's WDDX and Vignette's ICE.

Now *that's* interesting! It doesn't appear to be anywhere near as understandable as WDDX. Have you been able to find some examples of the XML used to communicate with client and server?

If all it's doing is moving data from one machine to another then how is it competitive with ICE? Or is that all ICE is doing?

None of these guys, at any of these companies, know how to write an intro that explains what their friggin protocols do. How could a non-technical reporter or analyst figure it out? Who has the patience? Who cares?

Seriously, Microsoft was a co-inventor of XML-RPC. I wonder why they don't just endorse it and be done with it.

Ohhh the mysteries of Microsoft!?!
