there's no subtable called subtaskinfo

How is the mainResponder.background.everyNight script being invoked? Is its address listed in user.scheduler.overnight? Or are you using another method to invoke it?

Can I turn logging of backups off?

You can turn off scheduler logging by setting both user.scheduler.prefs.keepLog and user.scheduler.prefs.logInGuestDatabase to false -- but I'd be surprised if doing so solved your problem.
