One of the value-adds of commercial publishers is that you get the book as a book, not a stack of paper from your laser printer.

However, I wonder if the new technology of "on-demand books" (see http://www.toexcel.com/about.asp) will make it easy for you to make a bound book out of anything. Just ship them a PS file and $10, and the book shows up in a couple of days. That would be interesting.
