From a legal and ethical point of view, there is nothing new here. The only conceptual difference between Gnutella and searching AltaVista+httpDownload is the integration and ease of use. This allows the brain-dead to do what savvy users have been doing all along.

Internet porn sites were major ecommerce, banner-ad, and streaming video pioneers. Some of the best tools for decompilation, program tracing, and debugging were improved by people cracking games and CDkeys. If anyone takes ANYTHING away from the world of software, it should be this... There is no such thing as "Primary Use" in the world of software.
