just looking at the screenshots, it looks like nautilus has borrowed at least one difficult element from windows: menubars within windows (slow to click on) instead of menubars at the top of the screen (fast).

this could be due to apple patents, which tog mentions in his discussion of the menubar subject- http://www.asktog.com/columns/022DesignedToGiveFitts.html
