Bret, according to the FreeBSD and BSDi people, at the time of the announcement, BSDi was going to make loadable modules for FreeBSD based on stuff they had in their OS. Since a new version 4.x of FreeBSD was out(or nearly so), BSDi said they will wait until the next version 5.0 for them to sync their code. BSDi said that after that they would not make their own OS, that they would only provide modules as add-ons for FreeBSD.I didn't lie, you just didn't have all the information.
Here is the Slashdot interview with BSDi, Walnut Creek and FreeBSD guys.
