The solution that has seemed obvious to me for two years or so is to split Frontier into an "engine" that would do the work and an "IDE" that would present the interface. But maybe that's not what you want.It seems like you could also possibly write a mini-service or COM component or something that could funnel connections to Frontier. Has anybody tried this? And why does IIS have a restriction, anyway? Is it about security?
