Some, not all. You can trap all *attribute accesses* (read or write), which is what Zope uses to implement persistent objects.See the section on "Object Persistence with BoboPOS" at http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Reference/ObjectPublishingIntro for some more background (if I understand things correctly, a "PickleDictionary" corresponds pretty closely to Frontier's object database).
