Certainly fighting the platform battles over the Desktop GUI is a loss.

But sitting on top of whatever MS does - and staying one step ahead of them is certainly possible.

They can't possibly do the right thing - there's too much sludge, corporate infighting and lack of clarity up there, though there are a ton of smart people (which I wouldn't trade lives with for all the money in Fort Knox.)

But you've got it right - pick your battles, focus on the future - and what customers care about.... that's what matters.
