My understanding is that the "licensing issues" of DeadRadio.com were mainly that he was either unable, or unwilling, to pay BMI the licensing fees due for netcasting commercial Dead recordings (which he definitely was doing).All U.S. pop music licensing is handled by either BMI or ASCAP. Radio stations pay annual fees to these companies based on a snapshot-sample of their music logs, and the stations' market sizes; netcasters who stream music 24x7 must do essentially the same thing.
