That's a fine analogy, Lea: I've been working on a paper over the past few months (it's dragged on...!) comparing open-source projects to the first flowering of modern scientific knowledge in the late 1600s. The Royal Society flourished because there was full disclosure: its "Philosophical Transactions" were the prototype of the modern scientific journal. There's always going to be a need for those who put in place the tools for collaboration, provide the conduits. Which is why Frontier and its surrounding technologies are a Good Thing.

And, by extension, isn't this discussion group following similar principles?
