Code Snippets: Are they source or a book?
Author: Jon Fernquest Posted: 8/31/1999; 3:07:12 AM Topic: Opening Up Linux Journal and O'Reilly Msg #: 10295 (In response to 9883) Prev/Next: 10294 / 10296
Just my two cents. My favorite books structure themselves around snippets of code that isolate specific bits of functionality. The snippets often don't even need the supporting text.
Jon Orwant's Perl 5 Interactive Course and Programming Perl are good examples.
This Python is also a good example: http://www.hvision.nl/~ivnowa/snippets/
My question or pointis "In the limit when the code is small and self-explanatory, isn't the distinction between source and book almost lost?"
