So I guess this is a silent reversal of Sun's claim that Java was the One True Way to do cross-platform application software? What does Bill Joy say now?? (What does Don Hopkins say?)That would be interesting. I wonder if they will finally 'fess up that Java may not be ideal for very large projects.
I can think of (off-hand) two office packages that tried the Java route -- Corel Office and Lotus eSuite. Corel abandoned their version after all of the complaints of galacial speed. I think Lotus just abandoned their version after nobody bought it...
