If they can make it fast, Sash could be a good idea. If I wanted to write apps in JavaScript, I would probably rather use Sash than desktop.com.

Sash reminds me of something similar for Java apps that I saw yesterday call Speiros. The cleverest feature IMO is the transparent access to files on the server. The unfortunate thing about Speiros is that the Web site makes no sense so you have to download it to find out what it actually does.
