Consider the Java Ring. Java Ring 2.0 is also going to have something like 134K of usable RAM.

You are right though, building bridges is a much better solution.

An even better one is reusing existing bridges! Given that XML-RPC has been implemented in Java, it seems reasonable to inquire as to whether the shortest path to XML-RPC on PalmOS isn't via Java on PalmOS.
