telnet is a perfectly acceptable and much lower overhead protocol with which to do tail -f. Any particular reason you're not just using that?Good, an easy question! The answer is user interface.
I like and use telnet. But if it's a web page, then I can have a bookmark, I don't have to leave my browser, it's very simple to check out the log.
