All the Linux Distrubutions are in essence code forks. Think about all the "Based on RedHat 6.0" (Mandrake) or "Debian" (Corel, Stormix, Libra). Also the Linux Standard Base (LSB) is basicly trying to bring some of the incompabilities together.
