The more serious problem is that the Web is just a small part of the Internet and, as I mentioned previously, assuming that the web as-is is the right technology to delivery is just as short-sighted and small-minded as assuming that the telephone network is perfect and trying to prevent the development of the unreliable and imperfect Internet.But, the phone companies are at it again, trying to define a build a whole infrastructure carefully tuned to be obsolete before it is deployed!
This is less a flame than an observation having seen this happen to many times before.
