Any Mac, Linux, or NT server can provide iDisk services. The only reason no one else has done it yet is because they didn't think of it.

It doesn't require MacOS 9, either. The only thing tied to MacOS 9 is the ability to click in the browser to mount the volume (any browser could be configured to do this, but MacOS 9 has it in there by default, apparently).

In context of the recent Manila roll-out, any Manila server could provide mountable directories to users for their pictures or other downloads.
