You mentioned that part of pike might be a web server, would that then go a step towards getting other apps to be xml-rpc enabled on the desktop? Since they could "piggy back" on the local server?

Yes sir. If an app supports Apple Events or COM, Pike could act as an XML-RPC proxy.
