Just van den Broecke has a neat implementation of "Pushlets" using long-running HTTP connections.

His message suggests the possibility of XML-RPC client/server callbacks, which would be an interesting derivation of the Pushlet architecture.

Support of any emerging IP-multicasting standard(s) might even be supported by XML-RPC client/server callbacks...
