Other mail clients are not immune to such attacks AFAIK. If the attachment is an EXE (scripting holes in HTML mail are a separate issue that I agree MS may be neglecting), it can probably script any email client you have running. Or it could probably use some standard Windows DLL to send mail itself, without needing any email client.
