It is manifestly unnecessary for Microsoft to "believe" in an idea in order for the idea to flourish.

Open source is unkillable even if Dave's skepticism were the rule rather than the exception.

Microsoft's "blessing" should be unsolicited if possible, ignored if granted, and celebrated if denied.
