>By "flop" I assume you mean money-wiseActually both money and acceptance within the community. Community being the press, the industry spokespeople, Apple and the users. Successful products filled a need that the community "got". While failed products were chasing ideas that were years from being problems. If you get ahead of yourself you rob the success of money making products on a bet that the world will catch up in time. Solutions looking for a problem in other words become problems.
I could post some specific examples as case studies if there is any interest.
