The leaders of the rebellion gave him a short(day or two at most), semi-private trial.(i.e. going through the motions) After verdict and sentancing, they took them(Ceausescu and his wife) right out to be killed the instant it was handed down, so as to prevent a focal point for a resurgance of the old government.

There wasn't anything even vaguely legal or ethical about the trial, but I certainly can't fault the people for running a sham trial for the man who murdered thousands.
