The notion of performance is indeed germane, though what would you say about Age of Empires, say, in that respect?

How about this news group? It's "software" (not "just" writing) and rather performance-like ... or am I mixing what ought not be mixed?

I would still say the real surprise is that I can repeat your assertions with as much meaningfulness as I did that is provocative, not the evident differences - which I freely concede.
