'Tis true. Unless, you're required to support and secure a network with machines running 4 different OSes for 12 different people. One of the depressing things in life is that often you're required to surrender some of your personal freedoms when you work in a public forum -- like a business. Sometimes you need to implement a solution that's best for everyone as a group, but not every single individual. Just as Linus picks and chooses which patches to accept to the kernel.
