I like your idea of community testing of a service. I know the folks at CNN are living this right now, intentionally or not, where their bulletin board on Impeachment/Zippergate is topping 46,000 posts in the last month, and running so hot their servers/apps are having trouble keeping up during the day. http://community.cnn.com/
