I don't know about Microsoft (although it sounds very interesting, is there a URL available?), but that sounds like the kind of thing that has been suggested by others some weeks ago and that could (maybe) be done on both platforms, possibly others too, by using Mozilla's Gecko engine.

Whichever way, the outcome will be very interesting (when and if ;-))
