Len Kawell, President of Glassbook (Presentation at Electronic Book '98):

"Finally, what we mean by "open" is that the standards are available for use by ALL the participants in the e-book world. This means that competitors can all compete on features and capabilities, but the consumer is assured of being able to obtain content from any source and use it on whatever reader that he or she chooses."
