Another MSIE textarea glitch

Another thing the does wrong in MSIE5. Sometimes when I hit the Backspace button on the keyboard, instead of deleting the character behind the cursor, it switches the whole window to the previous web page, simulating a click on the Back button in the browser. It seems to be a timing issue, if I click the mouse in the area and immediately hit backspace it happens. I imagine this is a focus issue.
