This is why I roll my own. Yeah, it is a pain in the ass, but I know exactly what is in my box, and I know exactly what I am getting in for. Of course, this also means that you have to have a fairly good understanding of the hardware, and it is not reasonable for most people. This also means you don't get stuck with crippled OEM video cards and so forth (like much lower max resolution/refresh rate). It also makes it posible to guarenty it will work with OSs other than what it is shipped with.

I may buy a laptop, but otherwise, I doubt I will buy a prebuilt desktop, simply for control reasons, I doubt I am saving much money, even if I count my time as free.
