the designers of passport, NOT hotmail, were trying to build a scheme to login once and be able to access different parts of msn such as hotmail, communities and moneycentral. they apparently took a pretty stupid shortcut in trying to do so.

this whole debacle has been improperly reported as a hotmail design flaw. it is a passport problem.

you're encouraged to read up on passport at www.passport.com it's an interesting but obviously immature concept.
