I just posted an article to my Mother of Perl column that covers the RSS format in brief and builds code that retrieves an RSS file from the Web and converts it to HTML. I setup a cron job to execute the script every 5 minutes which grabs news from several sources. The results can be seen on page 5 of the tutorial.
