http://www.nytimes.com/library/tech/99/12/cyber/cyberlaw/10law.html : "In issuing a preliminary injunction on Monday, Judge Tena Campbell of the United States District Court in Salt Lake City said it was likely that the critics, Sandra and Jerald Tanner, had engaged in contributory copyright infringement when they posted the addresses of three Web sites that they knew, or should have known, contained the copies [of the Mormon Church Handbook of Instructions]."

Oooops...

In light of the fact that the web is, depending on who you ask, between 8 to 16 "clicks" in "diameter"... how far does this copyright infringement propogate, I wonder? Can you get in trouble for linking to a page linking to pirated software? Or two levels of indirection? Three...?
