The Davos conference staff wrote up Ten websites that will change the world.The panel came up with a few more than ten. I believe these are in the order presented.
1 ReadWorld.com simultaneous translation of English into Chinese, brought the Web most of which is written in English to the country with the largest population in the world 2 eggweb.com represent US farmers and enable them to sell their produce on-line. 3 DrudgeReport.com uncovered and published news in advance of the established media 4 Whitehouse.gov encouraged transparency in government 5 forestworld.com brought enlightened production and marketing methods to potentially damaging operations. 6, 7, 8 amazon.com (books), bluemountain.com (electronic greetings cards) and webnoize.com (information about the digital music business) brought products and information to markets in revolutionary ways 7 davosnewbies.com written by one man, showing individuals could bring their skills to a huge audience 8 geoworks.com claiming ownership of the intellectual property that is propelling Internet development, and are demanding licence fees. 9 maps.vix.com blacklisting sites and blackholing their email. "Vix is the sheriff, but you can't vote him out if you don't like what he does," 10. ICANN.org 11. stanford-online.stanford.edu Distance university 12. avu.org Distance university in Africa 13. Refugjat.com Built to help Kosovar refugees trace family members. Has a database of 75,000 names and has reunited 9,000 families
