Jakob - Maybe it's a case of figuring out when it applies best.Do you think this might have something to do with how "technical" as subject is? A good many of Dave's writings are personal or narrative, compared to other writers who are presenting news, analysis of a subject, or procedures. I can't imagine Tolstoy, Shakespeare, or Hemmingway adding emphasis. Benjamin Franklin did, in Poor Richard's Almanac, a handbook for living.
