Do you believe public pressure on PacBell would help? Letter writing or petitions?

The most viral form of this I've seen was created by http://www.moveon.org/ and http://www.dealert.org/ and http://greencar.policy.net/. At these sites you 1. sign a narrowly focused petition, 2. pass it on, 3. volunteer. So fast and easy, in one campaign they gathered 400,000 signatures in 4 weeks.
