I think, judging from disputes over more contentious issues, it might be better to use the terms "Maroon" and "Turquoise" to define, respectively, these varieties of software. It would save a lot of time and nervous energy on everyone's part. Polarities polarise.Or, perhaps create an index based upon the visible spectrum in which FSF products are at one end, and uber-proprietary, hermetically-sealed-source products are at the other. Or take it a stage further, and use the pH scale. Which makes some sense, given that some people find one extreme caustic, and the other corrosive ;)
