The latest Perl Journal includes an article on MisterHouse, an open source home automation program that includes a web interface. MisterHouse supports the X10 CM11 ActiveHome and CM17 FireCracker interfaces, plus a handful of others. The article includes a few humorous examples, including one for foiling teenagers by playing a WAV of a squeaking staircase if an IR sensor detects movement in a hall in the middle of the night.
