I tired to warn a friend of mine - he was keeping his novel in a Word file - that because of the way that Word backs up (that's fertile, isn't it?) he would lose everything unless he kept alternate formats.

But no-o-o-o-o-o-o-o, not him. He lost about 300 pp.

I mean it was just text. Why not keep a 'just text' bup?
