Simple words like Mac or Linux carry a lot of baggage. Users on any platform see too much of that baggage when they look at another. I know I'm guilty of it at times.

I think the best way to approach it is as you have, at the detailed level: "This is XML-RPC, it can work for both of us." The details are important (though I suppose if they get to be too high-profile they pick up baggage of their own).
