Connectivity is a beautiful thing, and the Linux hackers know it. Linux speaks SMB and TCP and AppleTalk and HTTP and strange IBM protocols which have been lost in the depths of time. It reads your Amiga disks and hooks into your Acorn EcoNet. It will even mount your NTFS disks with a little work.

There's more to that to embracing other platforms. All the while, many Linux users and developers will tell you that you should really just be using Linux and give up on those other systems.

At least, that's my experience.

Try hanging out in the Unix aisle at Borders sometime. When another Linux (or other Unix) user starts talking to you, mention that your preferred desktop platform is a Mac. See how they react. You might get "good-natured" belittling or a full-fledged attempt at conversion.

It's at least as bad as what Windows users get from Mac users.
