I think I must be missing out a step!

In mostrecentnews.xml I have XML as below:


		Welcome to the News site: We'll be updating material here regularly etc etc.

- that's what I mean: s with but no !

I've tried making a link at the beginning of the items, but it just gets written out as text. Is there a particular way I need to write out the links?
