I'm gettin' the old too many files open error on my Mac. I don't really want to have to muck around with deciding which apps to quit.

I'd rather just up the file open limit a bit.

Any pointers to apps that can do the trick for me?

Mac OS v8.6

I'd prefer freeware/shareware. As long as it's a good application.
