On one hand I'm tempted to say that the rise of Open Source has had (and will continue to have) negative effects on the industry. 60% of Web sites are running Apache, which is harder to use, has fewer features, and is probably slower than WebSTAR 3.0.OTOH, Microsoft software abuses its users just as much as most Open Source software.
